AI Policy
OMNIALANG: International Journal of Language Continuum (OMNIA-LC) AI Policy & Disclosure Guidelines for Authors
General Principle and Scope
OMNIALANG: International Journal of Language Continuum (OMNIA-LC) recognizes the value of generative AI and AI-assisted tools (“AI Tools”)—when used responsibly—to support efficient research, literature synthesis, idea generation, and tasks like improving language, readability, and content organization. However, the use of these tools is governed by the following core principles:
- Human Oversight: AI Tools must never replace or serve as a substitute for human critical thinking, expertise, and evaluation.
- Full Responsibility: Authors are fully responsible and accountable for the content of their manuscript, including parts produced by an AI tool. Authors are liable for any breach of publication ethics.
- Authenticity: All material must be thoroughly edited and adapted to ensure the manuscript accurately represents the author’s authentic and original contribution.
Authorship Criteria
- No AI Authorship: Tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini cannot be listed as an author or co-author.
- Legal Standing: Authorship is reserved for humans who can take legal responsibility for the study and sign copyright transfer agreements.
Ethical Mandates and Compliance Checklist
By submitting a study to OMNIALANG: International Journal of Language Continuum (OMNIA-LC), authors confirm they have adhered to the following ethical mandates:
|
Category |
Required Actions |
|
Privacy & Confidentiality |
Unpublished data, sensitive research findings, or personal participant information must not be uploaded into AI tools. Authors must verify the tool’s data retention policy. |
|
Intellectual Property |
Content that violates the copyright of other authors or journals must not be processed through AI. Authors must ensure the AI output does not constitute “inadvertent plagiarism”. |
|
Verification & Fact-Checking |
All AI-generated outputs must be audited for bias and accuracy. References generated by AI may be fabricated and must be verified. |
|
Originality |
The final manuscript must reflect the author’s unique analysis, critical thinking, and interpretation. |
|
Replicability |
As AI output is not always consistent, authors should save and date all AI output used in their research for potential editorial review in the interest of transparency. |
AI in Images, Figures, and Visuals
- Prohibition: The use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools to create or alter images in submitted manuscripts is not permitted.
- Scope: This includes, but is not limited to, enhancing, obscuring, moving, removing, or introducing specific features within an image or figure.
- Allowable Edits: Adjustments to brightness, contrast, or colour balance are acceptable only insofar as they do not obscure, alter, or eliminate any information present in the original image.
- Review Process: Image forensics tools or specialized software may be used during the review process to detect potential image irregularities.
Disclosure of AI Usage
Authors are required to formally declare the use of AI during the submission process.
- Placement: This declaration must appear at the end of the manuscript, immediately preceding the References section.
- Minor Edits: No declaration is required for basic spelling, grammar, or punctuation checks.
- Methodological AI: If AI was used as a core part of the research method (e.g., data corpus analysis, automated coding), it must be detailed in the “Methodology” section of the paper, including the specific prompts and parameters used.
